The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Dominate the Weekly China Roundup

Written by Robert Vance on August 10, 2008 – 8:41 am

The Weekly China Roundup from TeachAbroadChina.com

  1. Dazzling The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was a spectacular event that left Chinese and foreigners with mouths agape. You can read more about the official start of the 2008 Olympic Games here…in other Olympic news, an American tourist was killed this morning in Beijing, apparently the victim of a ’suicide attack.’ Click here for more details…
  2. Who did I admire most during the Olympic opening ceremony? The Chinese dancers (dressed in white) who greeted 204 countries and never seemed to lose their enthusiasm. Great job!
  3. My most unfavorite Olympic outfit? I hate to say anything bad about the host country but China’s Olympic outfits made me hungry; I’ve always loved scrambled eggs and tomatoes. All kidding aside, their outfits just didn’t do it for me but their grand entrance was something to behold…
  4. Are you wondering if you should boycott the Olympics by turning your television off? It’s up to you of course but before you decide to completely ignore this premier world wide event, read my take on it and let me know what you think…

See you next week!
