Hello
Fri, 07/23/2010 - 19:22
Hi! I'm searching for a new job in China. I taught from March to May, 2010 at a college in Deyang. I got a severe chest cold and had to go back to the US (I had only THREE sick days to use for the whole year). After practicing law for almost 19 years, I decided to make a change and got my TESOL certification. I would love to go back to China (my resident permit is valid until Feb. 2011). Any leads would be appreciated.

Thanks, Beryl (love Monty Python, too)! My residence permit is still good (confirmed by former employer). I worked for a company which is an agent for a major technical college in Australia. Said company supplied ESL teachers to colleges in China.

Hope I can add more China experience to it!

Hope you can access your blogspot
as I couldn't when I was there. Maybe the school blocked it.

I had tried to access via
proxy server, but none worked from where i was. Even one I paid for. Nothing got me through the great Firewall.

I was in Deyang, and Strong VPN worked great (got Google with no problem). Where were you?

Hi Czaerana
I was in Shaoxing and tried several proxy servers, but one was blocked and the other needed information that I could not provide to set it up. When I asked about setting it up at the school I was warned that I might be doing something illegal.
If I was going back - which I might - I'd look at the program you used.

VPN
Sign up and install it before you leave. Strong worked well for me. I could even listen to my home town public radio station online!

Hi.
I thought the residence permit connected you to your school? Or at least the city??
I use Freegate VPN. Its good...and free!! :)

What's this?
Welcome aboard!
You may want to look for a position at a business school or a school of law. I believe that there's a pretty famous school of law somewhere in Sichuan province. Maybe someone can direct you.
If you left the school in good graces, your residence permit may still be valid. Then again, it might have expired when you left the school, no matter what condition under which you left the school. Maybe someone can advise you about this.
