China Alerts
Placing names of companies or schools on this page is not something that we enjoy or take lightly. We only list schools and companies on this page after we have received multiple complaints and/or we have done our own research to support an alert. Names listed here are not necessarily scams but their reputation dictates that a teacher should be careful in dealing with the school or company. Of course, we always welcome feedback both for and contrary to the opinions that we have expressed on this page. We would also welcome any school or company that is listed here to contact us .
1. Shijiazhuang Greemind Center – The China Teaching Web has recently received a detailed report about a recruiting agency called Greenmind Center and we urge prospective teachers to avoid these people as much as possible for the time being.
According to email correspondence that our source provided, this Greenmind Center created a fake degree so that our source would have a better chance of securing an ESL job in China. In one of the emails, they also instructed our source to lie to the school.
After our source sent the center a letter declining the job and explaining that what they were proposing was a crime and could have serious consequences, Greenmind responded with a very rude letter.
The original contact person went by the name of Kaylyn. The contact information for the school has since changed.

2. Fenny, Perlandas and PELCC — If you are looking for a job in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, you are sure to run across this recruiting agency. The agency offers jobs on the internet that often look too good to be true. Some of the jobs may exist; some of the jobs may not exist. I don’t know for sure. The point is, this agency will charge you 50 percent of your first month’s salary for its services and you will be “bound” to the agency during the entire duration of your time with the school. For example, if you sign a contract for 500 dollars a month with a school, you would have to give PELCC 250 dollars the first month and pay them again if you want to renew your contract a year later. Also, from my personal experience, I can tell you that the terrific jobs that they claim they have access to seem to disappear into thin air when you arrive at their office. Perhaps what is most intriguing(and disappointing) about this outfit is that it is being run by an American who wants to “have a monopoly”(in his own words) over all of the jobs in Southern China. You can identify PELCC’s posts by looking for email addresses containing the name “Fenny,” “Perlandas Legal and Consulting,” and jobs that are identified like “job 91:” or “job 100:” There is NO reason to pay a recruiting agency to help you find a job. Save your money and do it yourself or find a recruiter who charges the schools.
