- Robert Vance is in a Chinese hospital this week — I used to think I was a hard core traveler until I came down with appendicitis this week on a short trip into Central China. Having six Chinese doctors peering down at me in the operating room and chattering in Mandarin was a little bit nerveracking. What is it like to stay in a Chinese hospital for a few days?
