Mooncakes and North Korea Dominate the Weekly China Roundup

- A mooncake alternative — Maybe you are like me and simply do not like the taste of Chinese mooncakes. My students tell me this week that ice cream mooncakes are readily available throughout China on this holiday weekend. Some ice cream mooncakes even have fruit inside and should serve as a tasty alternative as you celebrate Mid Autumn Day on Sunday.

- The Police showed up…two hours later — A friend of mine was at home recently when a thief broke into her apartment. She locked herself in the bathroom and frantically called the police while the thief tried to ‘bust’ the door down. Unfortunately, the police were too ‘busy’ that night and didn’t show up until two hours later. Meanwhile, my friend had to escape out the bathroom window. She is okay. The thief, given all of that extra time, was able to take off with plenty of money and electronics.
