Crocodiles and Earthquakes Dominate the Weekly China Roundup
Written by Robert Vance on March 23, 2008 – 9:19 amThe Weekly China Roundup from RR on TeachAbroadChina.com
- A crocodile made eye contact with me tonight at our local Walmart. Well, I guess I made eye contact with him since he was laying there lifeless in the frozen meat section. I’m guessing the middle of his body was missing since all that was visible was his tail and head protruding out of the ice. Next to him was 196.00 Kg of Crocodile Meat on sale for 171.89 RMB.
- I made a baby stop crying this week when I said hello to her in Chinese. Her mom looked very pleased.
- A 7.9 earthquake was recorded in Western China earlier this week. One of my students said that she was glad for the earthquake since it would force the Tib**ans to depend on Beijing.
- I’ve lost weight since coming here. Not that I have been trying. It’s just that my apartment is nowhere near a bus stop so wherever I go, I end up walking for a long time.
- Someone tried to sell me drugs on the street on Friday night. I politely declined but it makes me wonder about my “neighborhood.”
See You Next Week!
