The Earthquake in China

Written by Robert Vance on May 12, 2008 – 9:29 pm

Followups to this post:

TeachAbroadChina.com has been receiving numerous hits from people who are looking for information about the earthquake in China. While TeachAbroadChina.com is not based out of a region close to any of the hard hit regions, I do want to offer my personal condolences to the thousands of families who have and will no doubt be affected by this terrible tragedy. Although I am far away from ‘ground zero’ I do know that in my training center yesterday, tears were flowing from the eyes of students who have family members in the Sichuan. They are desperately trying to find out what happened to their loved ones. My thoughts and prayers are with my students and with the Chinese soldiers who are searching for survivors even at this hour.

If you are going to donate money to the relief effort, please make sure that you are not tricked by the email scams that always rear their ugly heads during these times of tragedy.

Here are some websites that will actually use your donations to help people in China:

Reuters has an interesting page set up with links to blogs and photos coming directly from the effected regions. Click here to access it.

***Update at 13:45 Beijing time on 5/14 — If you have any additional information that you can share with us in regards to donations, please leave us a comment.
