ESL Conversation Topic — Sales

Written by Robert Vance on June 12, 2008 – 4:55 am

Level: Beginner to Intermediate

The ESL Conversation Topic of Sales forces students to be creative and works well with almost all English levels.

Warmup: Pair up your students and explain to them that they are sales teams. Tell them that they will each have an item to sell to the class. Since they don’t have the item with them, they will need to be as descriptive as possible. Tell them that they can use their imaginations to make the product as attractive as possible.

Hand out the following sheet to them and give each team an item to sell.

CONVERSATION CLASS:

YOU ARE THE SALESPERSON:

1. Watch (something you wear on your wrist that tells time)

2. MP3 Player

3. Apartment

4. Cell Phone

5. Laptop Computer

7. Trip to Beijing

9. Washing Machine

10. Metro Training Center English Services

11. A membership to the local gym
