Can someone inform me if African instructors are welcoming in China? I studied English since ten years in Kenya and experienced teaching for 5 more years. Where are jobs available in China for Africans?

I don't know man. I am an African American and I have been able to find some work here but the pay isn't that great. I have met a few Africans teaching English here but the majority of them are also working for trading companies. You gotta come here to find a job.

You need to improve your English before you come over man! That post was full of errors. They aren't going to hire you if you can't speak GOOD English. Just some advice.

I have to agree with catlover here because they will be looking for the best. If your English isn’t that good then they would hire somebody else.

Come on. Give Austing a break! Are you saying that Americans speak perfect English? That's a joke. There are plenty of qualified non-native speakers here who speak English better than a lot of Americans. Racism is a big problem in China. People DON'T like black people.

Catlover and Chocoguy, before you cast the first stone, look at your own posts. I do believe a few glaring mistakes can be seen in each.

Unfortunately, racism is a problem in China. Black visitors are often targeted by police and there is the Nanjing incident that comes to mind. I think it would depend on the region.

I admit it I’m also guilty of racism and some wrong grammar. Next time I would be looking at my post first before trying to insult someone.

To be honest, it is harder for African people to find ESL jobs than other minorities in my experience. I don't really have an explanation for this other than to reiterate what I have often said about schools in China that think their 'advertising' dollar can go much farther with a blonde hair blue eyed teacher. Are there Africans teaching in China. Sure, there are many. But I do not believe that they receive the same treatment as other foreign teachers which is really a shame.

It's harder because they suck at teaching English! Plain and simple. Everyone else on here is afraid to state the truth. I just did.
